Eagles rookie Sidney Jones practices for the first time
Sidney Jones suits up for the first time on Wednesday to practice with the team!
What a long road it has been for Philadelphia Eagles rookie Sidney Jones. The 2017 second-round pick has been waiting for this day for a long time. The rookie cornerback out of Washington suffered a ruptured Achilles back in the spring during his pro day. Although his draft stock took a hit, it didn’t stop the Eagles from taking a gamble on him.
The timetable was very confusing for Jones. Original reports indicated that he could debut as early as October. While other doctors and analysts speculated that he probably wouldn’t even play in his rookie season. Obviously, the idea of him having an actual game day appearance is still up in the air. But the fact that he was able to practice this week is a great step towards progress.
Take a look at Jones:
Baby steps…
Seeing Sidney Jones being able to take the field is refreshing. The young defensive back has been itching to get back on a football field. He has been in attendance at all practices and games and now he can finally fully participate.
Defensive Coordinator, Jim Schwartz has yet to tell us the full plan for Jones. He stated that Wednesday’s practice would be just like the start of OTA’s for Jones. If that is the case, that means we may not see him at all this season considering there are only three games left. Schwartz did not rule out the idea of playing him just yet, though.

Either way, whether Jones takes the field at all or not this season, this is still some great progress towards the future. He was visibly excited in his uniform as the Eagles warmed up with some stretches and light drills. We should expect to see more of Jones’ progression all throughout the week as the Eagles prepare for the New York Giants.
