12 Marvelous quarters

Once the Eagles lock up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, whether that’s on Christmas or the final week of the season against the Dallas Cowboys, they’ll simply need to win three games in the playoffs. Two will be played in the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field. The final victory will give the Eagles their first Lombardi Trophy and fourth championship in team history.

Four quarters, maybe eight, of winning football in the regular season are needed. Then, we’ll only need twelve quarters in the playoffs.

11 Men on defense

When starting quarterback Carson Wentz went down with an injury, the question was how much of a drop off would be witnessed when the team hands the keys over to reserve quarterback Nick Foles. The defense was an afterthought. The Eagles were supposed to just play great defense as they had all season and ride that to the Super Bowl.

Then, the wheels all seemed to come off against the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants.

Here’s a moment of unbiased reality. If the Eagles walk into the playoffs and play on defense the way they’ve played over the past month, they won’t be in the postseason discussion long. Period.

Let’s turn this thing around.
