Making the case for Doug Pederson as Coach of The Year
Play-calling has been a strong suit…
Last season, some people questioned whether Pederson was good enough to call plays, or if he should hand over the duties to offensive coordinator Frank Reich. The former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator didn’t pay any mind to the critics. He’s turned into an avid playcaller.
Doug emphasizes each player’s strengths, and he tries to put them into the best situation possible to help them succeed. He is also terrific at making in-game adjustments if things don’t seem to be going their way. If the team starts out slow, they usually come out firing on all cylinders after halftime. The Eagles are the second-best third quarter team in football, and you can thank Doug Pederson for that.
Pederson is also a well-known risk taker. He has certainly displayed that he’s not afraid to go for it on 4th down here and then. His risks usually come with a high reward too, as the Eagles are one of the most efficient teams on 4th down in the entire league. His willingness for these gambles shows that he believes and has faith in his guys.
