It didn’t take long for Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Chris Long to respond to a tweet that mentioned him for his humanitarianism.

If you’re a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, you’ve known how much Chris Long means to their fan base for a while. You also know how special he is as a person. Fortunately, Eagles fans aren’t the only ones who know it. The 44th President of the United States took to social media on Friday. His purpose was to show the Eagles defensive tackle some love.

It’s, no doubt, a once in a lifetime opportunity to have the former commander in chief shine some light on your contributions or accomplishments. Long, obviously choked up by all of this, wasted no time in providing a response.

Take a look.

"It’s silly to me to see a president mention my name. It’s surreal. Nothing but respect for the guy… That’s an honor that it would even fly across one of our former President’s radar. That’s the whole point of trying to do good things in the community, spreading positivity. It’s an honor to be mentioned."

Long, this season, decided that he would be giving away every penny of the two-year contract he signed back in March. The deal was worth $4.5 million. It had a base salary of $1 million. His decision began with the idea to donate his first six game checks to fund scholarships for students who live in his hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia. That was on the heels of tragedy, but Long wasn’t done. He’d then decide to donate the rest of his salary in October.

Here’s another quote.

"I’ve been lucky. I made a lot of money playing a game and I’ve been humbled by the opportunity and just being able to continue to play football for a living… So while it’s not an earth-shattering amount of money, it’s more about, for me, doing what I love for something that’s important to me than it is the actual number."

Enough said.

As of the time of the writing of this story, there’s no word as to whether or not President Obama’s officially ended his loyalty to the Chicago Bears and has officially become an Eagles fan. One thing’s certain. We know he’s watching the games. After all, it was Obama that coined the phrase ‘Wentz Wagon’. Might he go for a ride?
