Philadelphia Eagles: Chemistry has led to perseverance

How has this Philadelphia Eagles team overcome everything all season long? The answer to that question can be found in something as simple as team chemistry.

Part I: Overcoming adversity

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their most versatile running back and punt returner before any of us knew that they could be a serious contender, but that was just the beginning. They lost their best cover guy in the first game of the season and were without him for two months, and then, they lost their starting left tackle, kicker and middle linebacker. Then they lost their backup at middle linebacker.

Over and over again, this team has had to saunter on and put the pieces back together following tragedy. Despite everything, their most significant loss wouldn’t be realized until Week 14. Their starting quarterback and MVP candidate, Carson Wentz would go down with a knee injury.

Philly’s moving on following what seemed like the final nail in the coffin.

In typical Eagles fashion, after injuring himself, Wentz would stand in the pocket and deliver a touchdown pass. That final pass of Wentz’s season would set a team record for touchdown passes in a season. It didn’t seem like much at the time, but that play was representative of more than what happened on that drive. That play was synonymous with what we’ve seen all season.

No other team, in 2017 anyway, could have endured what this one did. As a result, they’re headed to Minneapolis, Minnesota for a date with the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. How did they do it? It’s simple. This team is a family, and their chemistry has fueled their perseverance.
