Here’s a nice story involving the Philadelphia Eagles (just in case you missed it).

The city of Chester, Pennsylvania sits 18.5 miles from ‘The City of Brotherly Love’ and is a 26 minute trip down I-95 south. Recently, the Philadelphia Eagles looked at their neighbors from the south and fell in love with a high school football coach.

LaDontay Bell is the head football coach of the Chester High School Clippers. On June 2nd of 2017, his team, school and community was rocked by some devastating news. One of their star student-athletes, Zion Abdullah was tragically and unexpectedly shot and killed. All he was trying to do was go to school that morning.

A coach becomes a hero.

Once Bell learned of the news, he made a vow to his team and their families. Nothing like that would happen under his watch again. He did what was placed on his heart. That was making a decision to drive every single one of his players to and from practice. He wanted to make sure, while he was responsible for them, that they were one-hundred percent safe.

Here’s what Bell had to say about that decision.

"At that moment, everything stopped for a minute and what it made me sit down and go home and ponder and think was what can I do differently? This is more than football, so what I did was I told myself you have to love them more.. And what I meant by that was be there to help them out when they really need me and that is when they’re going to and from (practice). In doing so, I decided to go back and forth with transportation with them just to keep them encouraged, just to keep them motivated mentally."

As stated, that was enough to get the attention of the Eagles, Brian Dawkins aka ‘Weapon X’ was sent in for a special mission.

Take a look.

That’s awesome stuff. Still, as great as that is and as much as that gives you another reason to fall in love with this Eagles team, this story is really about the children. With that said, it’s what was said by one of Bell’s student athletes that stands out most.

Check this one out.

"It means a lot because really no other coach that I had did that for me. For him to do that, it really means a lot because it shows that he really cares because he cares about this team and everybody on it."

That’s a direct quote from the Clippers’ leader on offense, quarterback Tahree Fuller-Bryan. Honestly, after reading something like that, what more is there to say? Well done Coach Bell. Well done.
