Stay or Go: 7 Key Free Agents the Eagles need to make a decision on
Patrick Robinson, CB
Patrick Robinson has shockingly been one of the most reliable players on the Eagles defense this season. After plenty of struggles in training camp defending on the outside, he found his niche in the nickel. Robinsons became perhaps the best cornerback on the Eagles defense when it was all said and done.
Now the Eagles are in a tough spot as they seem to have a bit of a surplus at cornerback heading into next year. They will get a fully healthy Sidney Jones along with Ronald Darby, and Jalen Mills, and Rasul Douglas. None of those guys have had an opportunity to play in the slot yet so it’s no guarantee that any of them can fill in for Robinson if he does happen to walk.
The Eagles should really consider bringing him back for another season. The 30-year-old back seems to have enough gas left in the tank for another season in the defense that allowed him to excel in 2017. The good news is, Robinson came into Philly on a very cheap deal. His salary in 2017 was under a million dollars and his cap hit was 775k. There is a good chance that the Eagles get another solid year from Robinson if they do happen to bring him back for 2018.
