Philadelphia Eagles: A final look at the Nick Foles revenge tour
Nick Foles receives a generous contract.
The Eagles front office worked wonders for the team in the 2017 offseason. The singing of Alshon Jeffery was tremendous. But their decision to have a reunion with Foles obviously paid off big time. He signed a two-year, 11 million dollar contract with the Eagles. Now the Eagles were known to be quite generous with their checkbook towards backup quarterbacks, so it’s no surprise that people thought the front office seemed crazy.
Howie Roseman and company got the last laugh this season when Foles earned every penny in the postseason. There are 100 million dollar quarterbacks out there who can’t clinch a playoff berth, while the Eagles backup dethroned the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Now his contract may be difficult to work around considering what it does to the cap. But it might not matter considering the high demand for Foles that will come in the offseason. Maybe the Eagles trade Foles, maybe they don’t. One thing is for sure though; the Eagles made the right decision with the contract they gave him. Not only that, but teams are starting to re-think about their backup quarterback situations in different ways. We could go as far as to say the Eagles changed the game with having a serviceable backup quarterback that can win championships.
