Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman does it again and makes a deal with the Carolina Panthers.

Howie Roseman isn’t finished yet, as he makes another trade. The Philadelphia Eagles will be sending veteran wide receiver Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers for cornerback Daryl Worley. In retrospect, the Eagles got yet, another decent deal as they clear up some much-needed cap space for the offseason.

As they send off Smith, they clear up over four million in cap space. The choice to move Smith in the offseason is no surprise considering he wasn’t much of a difference maker on the field. This trade will be another win-win deal for Howie and company as they bring in some more competition for the cornerback position and send off a cap casualty.

The Schefty Bomb:

For those who don’t know, the Eagles are getting a Philly native in Worley. The former Penn Charter High School standout is coming home after spending his first two seasons with the Panthers. Worley played in 31 games in his first two seasons, registering 152 total tackles and three interceptions.

Worley was a standout safety at his High School and transitioned into cornerback during his college days at West Virginia. He was drafted in the third-round of the 2016 NFL Draft, where he eventually earned the number two spot early on in the season.

Although Pro Football Focus had him ranked with a brutal grade of 58.9 for 2017, Worley will get his second chance in Jim Schwartz system. And who knows, maybe he could even see an opportunity to switch back to Safety as depth guy if things don’t work out in the loaded up defensive backfield.

As for losing Smith, the Eagles will miss an incredible personality in the locker. There is no doubt that he was a great veteran leader for the Super Bowl LII run. Not to mention, he had some very critical plays that were made in the offseason that helped the Eagles click on offense. Farewell, Torrey. And welcome home, Daryl Worley.
