The Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive tackle Haloti Ngata to a one-year deal.

Was anybody worried there for a second? Former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Haloti Ngata was undecided on his 2018 season. While he spent quite some time in Detroit, he was set to get a fresh start on the Philadelphia Eagles. It was announced on Tuesday that the Eagles were signing Ngata to a one-year deal.

The situation got fishy when the Eagles made their announcements of official signing at 4 pm on Wednesday. All of their original rumored signings became official except for one. That was the signing of Ngata. Then it was reported on Thursday morning that Ngata’s chances of leaving to Philly have slightly decreased. But he would visit the Eagles facility regardless to decide.

Well, worry no more Eagles fans, because according to Ngata’s agent, he is indeed going to be on the Eagles. Mike McCartney made the official announcement on Thursday afternoon, shortly after Ngata’s visit with the Eagles at the Nova Care Complex.

The congratulations:

It’s no surprise that all it took was a visit to the facilities to convince a veteran to sign with the Eagles. The 2017 Eagles had a ton of free agents sign last season and ended up not only winning a Super Bowl but increasing their value in the free agency market as well.

Now, Ngata will get his shot to compete for a Super Bowl at the age of 34 with the Eagles. Considering how things look back in Detroit right now, there’s no surprise if he thought this was a better opportunity to contribute to a Super Bowl contending team. No offense, Lions.

Ngata will strictly be a rotational player up front playing behind Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan. He will be the replacement for former Eagles defensive tackle, Beau Allen. Although Ngata is older and has more of an injury history, he also has tons of experience and upside for this upcoming season. If you thought the Eagles defensive front was dominant before, wait until you see it with this monster addition in Ngata.
