Eagles talk: Richard Sherman defends deal, downplays Nigel Bradham’s
New 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman isn’t too excited about Nigel Bradham’s new deal with the Eagles.
It hasn’t been too long since one of the game’s great corners transformed himself into his own agent. Shortly after that decision, he constructed a deal with his new team, the San Francisco 49ers. Now, long-time NFL cornerback and future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Richard Sherman still isn’t satisfied. It now appears that he’ll turn his attention to the contracts of other NFL athletes and offer his opinion on those as well. He’s apparently starting with Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham.
He calls Bradham’s five-year deal ‘awful’, a deal that will pay Bradham $40 million with $14 million guaranteed during that time. Maybe he should look a little closer at the deal he signed and brokered for himself. The only description we at ITI could use to describe said deal requires us to use a little bit of slang.

Sherman responds to his deal’s criticism.
Sherman was introduced by the 49ers on March 20th. Here’s some of what he had to say in reference to some of the criticism he got for his three-year, $27 million deal:
"Well, the biggest misconception is that it’s a bad deal. With this deal, I get $5 million guaranteed, which is half of my other contract. I get the ability to make more than I could have done whether I played at an All-Pro level or not in Seattle, and that’s really all that I wanted and that I play at the level that I’m capable of. I feel security in the upcoming years, and I felt comfortable with that. I’m great with that."

That first statement doesn’t seem so bad right? Well, he kept talking.

"The thing I’m most frustrated about is all the people who were so high on bashing this deal refuse to bash the agents that do awful deals every year… I mean, the kid from Philly, I think, Brenam, or something? It’s a one-year, $6 million deal, but to everybody else, it’s a $40 million deal. There’s nobody to bash it because nobody is paying attention to these agents and their deals."
First of all, who is Brenam? It doesn’t matter. We know what he meant.
In Sherman’s defense, some of his explanation makes sense. There’s just one problem. A lot of what he said in reference to Bradham’s deal isn’t totally true. According to Spotrac, Bradham got a signing bonus of $5 million, $6 million guaranteed at the contract’s signing and a total of $14 million that’s guaranteed for the entire deal.
He also has an average salary of $8 million, and he’s scheduled to earn a base salary of $10 million in the deal’s final year.

Bradham’s contract also ranks in the top-five of players at his position in total value. Sherman’s deal, on the other hand, ensures that almost 50 other cornerbacks in the NFL have contracts that will earn them more guaranteed money than Sherman will earn.
