Former Eagles receiver Josh Huff suspended by NFL for two games
Former Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff has been suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
The NFL handed down its’ ruling on former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff in reference to his arrest in relation to an incident that occurred in November of 2016. Huff was taken into custody for allegedly being in possession of a handgun and a small amount of marijuana after being stopped for speeding.
The charges were all dismissed. This a result of Huff agreeing to accept a conditional guilty plea for the gun charge. That was followed by a pre-trail intervention program. History as taught us something though. The results of any NFL player’s case apparently has nothing to do with the NFL’s decision-making process when it comes to these matters.
They still perform their own investigation. More often than not, they’ve issued some form of punishment.
A second shot for Huff hits a rough spot.

According to reports, Huff actually had a permit to carry a firearm. That permit was issued by the state of Texas, where he’s from. It was deemed viable by the state of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, Huff was pulled over in New Jersey, where the arresting officers had jurisdiction.
The entire matter, though serious, appears to be, mostly, an error in judgement on Huff’s part. One might also reason that this is the result of him being a little unclear on all of the details of his permit. Well, that’s the case in reference to the firearm. There’s clearly no reason why he’d be in possession of the marijuana.
Huff had too much to lose, and he almost lost his career.
Following his arrest, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson assured everyone that Huff would be on the field for the Eagles next game. He was released two days later.

Huff was signed to a reserve/future contract by the New Orleans Saints on January 18th of 2018. This came after he spent the entire 2017 season as a free agent. Prior to that he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 2nd of 2017. The Bucs signed him to their practice squad on November 7th of 2016 and elevated him to the active roster on December 6th of that same year.
