Philadelphia Eagles: Analyzing the WR position before the 2018 NFL Draft
Mack Hollins: The Protégé
When Torrey Smith was shipped off to the Carolina Panthers, Mack Hollins was expected to be the next man up. But not so fast, Eagles fans. Hollins will still have to wait his turn after the Eagles decided to bring in Wallace. So everybody who has steadily craved more Mack Hollins will have to remain patient once again.
This isn’t a bad thing. The move for Wallace doesn’t show any lack of trust towards Hollins. It is just the Eagles taking a simple approach to let a young receiver with tons of potential develop into the best version of himself on the field.
Hollins will be able to learn from two accomplished veterans in Jeffery and Wallace. With his size and speed down the field, Hollins can take what he learns from both guys and mix all the knowledge into one to become a dynamic target for the future.
In the meantime, Hollins will play his limited role in the offense while contributing to the special teams. After all, that is where Hollins excelled in his rookie season. So while it can be frustrating to see less Hollins once again, it should pay off big time in the long run.
