Could the Philadelphia Eagles three-headed monster find its new addition?

The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t going to be very picky when the 2018 NFL Draft rolls around. As the Eagles are sitting at the bottom of the first round with the 32nd pick, the team will take the best player available approach. Of course, they won’t honestly know who will be the best player available until the time comes. But the front office is starting to get a pretty good idea of who they want when it’s draft day.

Despite having a massive set of talent in the backfield during the 2017 season, the Eagles do not seem to be satisfied with the current state of the position. Sure, Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement do well for the most part, but you can never have enough talent at the position with the way the Eagles rotate players in and out.

As the NFL draft approaches, the Eagles are starting to show a ton of interest in LSU running back, Derrius Guice. As crazy as it sounds, the chances of the former Tigers running back becoming a part of the Eagles is becoming more realistic as time goes on. So far, the Eagles have scheduled multiple meetings with the prospect. That’s on top of the initial meetings that have already taken place since the NFL Combine.

According to Fan Rag Sports NFL Draft analyst Jon Leyard, the Eagles have quite a substantial schedule for Guice within the next week.

Meetings on top of meetings:

A lot of Eagles fans may think that drafting Guice makes zero sense. But it, when you put it into perspective, selecting Guice could finally solve the long-term problem at running back. Ever since the Eagles parted ways with LeSean McCoy, the backfield has looked relatively different every year. Although the Eagles have clearly survived without the franchises leading rusher, the situation was still not ideal.

Now, the Eagles truly have their chance to find the running back they have been waiting for since 2015. With Jay Ajayi set to become a free agent at the end of the 2018 season, it is doubtful that the Eagles will be able to afford to bring him back. Having Guice on board for at least four years on a rookie deal will be more than ideal for the Eagles.

Obviously, the Eagles will need things to fall in place for them on draft day. Although Guice is projected to drop past the first round potentially, there are still teams ahead of the Eagles that have been showing interest.

For example, the Washington Redskins have decided to take advantage of Guice’s trip to Philly. They scheduled for Guice to visit D.C. while he is in the Northeast. So nothing is set in stone as of now. Just keep in mind that if Guice is still available at 32, the Eagles most-likely are taking the former LSU stand out.
