On The Lincs: What would a Philadelphia Eagles Pro Golf Tour look like?
The Caddy: Doug Pederson
The caddy is the golf club carrier, who is the primary advice holder for the golfer. The caddy has a more strict job than some may think. In this situation, the caddy is Eagles Head Coach, Doug Pederson. The caddy basically controls all the shots and chooses which club should be called on to take the shot.
Just like Pederson, the caddy can be blamed most of the time for making the wrong decision. At the end of the day though, he’s still making the risky calls, no matter what the consequence may be. Pederson could be an excellent caddy because of his aggressiveness and fierce style of coaching. He does not let the nature of the game get to his head, and he sticks to the original game plan. The more a caddy switches up the decision making, the more it can affect a golfer’s mentality. It is crucial to put trust in the system and be confident when you’re a caddy.
The Driver: Carson Wentz
The driver is used to start off the day with a big shot to not only boost confidence but to have your team energized as well. Some may say the driver is the most important club in all of the golf bag. The driver can determine whether or not your shot has power and accuracy. The driver in the Eagles bag is the quarterback, Carson Wentz.
Wentz has the ability to drive the ball over long distances, impressing the crowd around him and boosting team morale. Wentz has MVP-like numbers when it comes to slinging the deep shot. He also has the ability to drive on the run, with a ‘Happy Gilmore’ like approach to the swing. Wentz can sustain a drive for the entire 18 holes on a golf course because of his determination and focus on the little things.
