Tommy Lawlor is a football scout and writer. He’s also one of the most trusted names when it comes to the Philadelphia Eagles, and he recently released his final Eagles-only mock draft of 2018.

Regardless of how you feel about NFL mock drafts, they do serve a couple of purposes. Sure they’re often inaccurate, but they do allow for some dialogue. They also give us some starting points and a look into what teams, the Philadelphia Eagles for instance, might be thinking.

Many mocks have been written, and in them, the Eagles have taken everything from tight ends to linebackers. Now, with the 2018 NFL Draft less than a week away, we’ll soon have an answer. Tommy Lawlor is best known for his work on IgglesBlitz.com and ScoutsNotebook.com. He recently released his final ‘Eagles-only mock’ of 2018, and he thinks he has an idea of what the Eagles intend to do.

He has them trading with the Denver Broncos to move back in the draft. From there, they’ll add more picks (40 and 106) and take former USC Trojans running back Ronald Jones.

Let’s examine this idea a little further.

For those of you that don’t know, Ronald Jones was one of the Eagles official pre-draft visits. Take a look:

Jones is is an interesting prospect for a team that already has Corey Clement and Jay Ajayi. In his three years in Los Angeles, Jones appeared in 40 games. He carried the ball 591 times, picking up 3,619 yards and scoring 39 touchdowns (19 as a senior).

He also caught 32 passes for 302 yards, and he scored three touchdowns as a receiver. Somewhere, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is salivating over what could be another versatile offensive weapon.

Next: So, how much are the Eagles worth anyway?

Here’s some of what NFL.com said in Jones’ draft profile:

"Jones is a classic slasher with the wiggle and explosiveness to elude open-field tacklers and then burst to chunks of yardage… was a much more assertive runner in 2017…. Jones also has the ability to turn into a much more dangerous pass-catcher than we saw at USC….. He’s a big play talent with a chance to thrive at a high level wherever he lands."

We’ll see if Jones is, indeed, the first name called by the Eagles in a few short days. The annual selection meeting is right around the corner.
