Chris Herndon, TE, Miami

Round 4, Pick 130

By now, a whole day worth of picks would have surpassed as the Eagles are empty-handed when it comes to second and third-round picks. Although the situation isn’t ideal, it isn’t necessarily a disaster. It’s not about where a player was selected; it’s about how they apply themselves and develop with their team. In this case, the Eagles would find themselves taking a brand new tight end with Miami’s Chris Herndon.

With the departure of Trey Burton and the release of Brent Celek, the Eagles are on the hunt for their long-term TE2 behind Zach Ertz. They may have signed veteran Richard Rodgers to a one-year deal, but Herndon would be expected to come in and learn from the two veterans ahead of him, leaving plenty of time to improve in the shadows.

This selection serves more as a value pick for what it’s worth. Herndon wasn’t exactly a superstar at Miami. But he did show some flashes of his abilities to gain some decent YAC. Herndon totaled for 1,048 yards and seven total touchdowns in three years at Miami. Again, his production is nothing spectacular, but he would be learning from some stellar veterans to prepare for years to come.
