Giants RB Jonathan Stewart seems to forget Eagles won Super Bowl LII
Someone needs to send New York Giants running back Jonathan Stewart an update on the outcome of last season.
Somehow, someway, there are football players out there who can’t remember who won Super Bowl LII. Despite the fact that the city of Philadelphia has been shouting ‘Super Bowl Champs!’ ever since February, some either don’t believe it or just want to live in denial about it. Every offseason, there are always NFL players saying they are coming for the Lombardi trophy. It’s their year, every year. We get it, and this is okay. But when you state you are coming for a Super Bowl that has already been played, you just look like a fool.
Close to two months ago, Philadelphia Eagles division rivals, the New York Giants signed 31-year-old running back Jonathan Stewart. Although the former Carolina Panthers back isn’t too familiar with playing the Eagles much, he should at least acknowledge they won the Super Bowl that he claims he is coming for.
Just yesterday, Stewart paid a visit to the NFL’s headquarters in New York City. While he was strolling along, he came across a wall filled with each Super Bowl ring throughout the years on a stand that marked the Roman numerals for that Super Bowl season. Once Stewart came across the final stand marked as “LII,” he decided to snap a picture of it and stated that the Giants would soon be coming for it.
Check it out:
The Giants PR team should probably get ahold of Stewart and let him know he is wrong. Obviously, the Eagles ring is not featured on the Super Bowl LII stand yet because they are just not finished with them. The player’s only got sized for them a week or two ago, and they will eventually get gifted their jewelry sometime this summer.
Next: What does the signing of Joe Callahan mean for the Eagles?
But just in case anyone forgot as Jonathan Stewart did. The Philadelphia Eagles (Not the Giants) defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII. Backup quarterback Nick Foles was the MVP after completing 28 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns. Their ring will go onto the LII stand at NFL HQ and they will raise a banner for proof in Lincoln Financial Field this September. Maybe Stewart will see it this year when he faces the Eagles as a Giants’ running back.
