Eagles LB Paul Worrilow tears his ACL, ruled out for the season
Philadelphia Eagles new linebacker Paul Worrilow suffered a season-ending injury at OTAs on Tuesday.
The injury-filled season for the Philadelphia Eagles just keeps on getting worse. Before OTAs began on Tuesday, the Eagles were without a few key players due to injuries. Defensive end Brandon Graham remains in a cast from his ankle surgery. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is still supporting a sling from getting his shoulder repaired. And Timmy Jernigan was out because he is recovering from his back surgery.
Although a few guys who were injured last season had some limited participation, the injury list grew a bit larger during the first voluntary practice of the offseason. Eagles new veteran linebacker Paul Worrilow went down with a knee injury after colliding with a teammate during a drill. Apparently, the scene at the Nova Care Complex was less than ideal at the moment.
Worrilow would leave the practice facility on a cart, with his leg supported by an air cast. Nobody wanted to speculate the injury at the time, but by the looks of it, the Eagles were expecting bad news leading up to the initial diagnosis.
Bad news for Worrilow:
So the Eagles take another harsh blow in the offseason. It’s official, the 28-year-old veteran linebacker is diagnosed with a torn ACL that will keep him out of the 2018 regular season. Meaning the Wilmington, Delaware native will never actually debut on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Worrilow signed as a free agent back in April on a one-year deal. Although he wasn’t expected to come in and win over anybody’s spot on the depth chart, he could’ve been a valuable piece to the special teams. We will never know, though.
Now the Eagles could potentially bring in another veteran as the linebacker depth looks significantly thin. With Mychal Kendricks now out of the picture, and Worrilow headed to the IR, the Eagles are already struggling at the position to stay healthy. And it’s only May.
