Julian Edelman

This Patriots slot receiver tore his ACL during the preseason and was inactive for the entire 2017 regular season. Julian Edelman was expected to be a instrumental part of New England’s offense as he had been for the last couple of years. He was coming off of a 1,000-yard season and a huge performance in Super Bowl LI.

With Edelman inactive this past season, former Eagles receiver Danny Amendola was left to pick up the slack. While the latter didn’t put up crazy stats during the regular season, he turned into Danny “Playoff” Amendola during the postseason.

He made some huge plays in the AFC Championship and helped his team cap a comeback win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He continued his impressive performance in the Super Bowl, and he finished the game with eight receptions for 152 yards.

Edelman may not have done much better than Amendola during the playoffs, but he might have changed the outcome of the final Hail Mary. We’ll never know the answer to that one though.
