Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz hosts a charity softball game
Recently, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz hosted a charity softball game in an effort to create a new food truck initiative in ‘The City of Brotherly Love’.
With his third season on the horizon, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is already one of the most beloved ‘Birds’ of recent memory. On the first night in June, he proved that again as his A01 Foundation hosted a charity softball game at Philly’s Citizens Bank Park. There were 25,000 fans in attendance.
Did we mention the fact that ‘The City of Brotherly Love’ has this guy’s back? So does Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie and each and every one of his teammates. On Friday night, over 25 of his Eagles teammates showed up to participate and show their support.
Wentz’s first attempt at softball is a ‘home run’.
Wentz launched his A01 Foundation in 2017 with the intention of “uplifting individuals and communities around the world by demonstrating God’s love for His people“. With his latest effort, the aforementioned charity softball game, Philly’s franchise signal caller set his sights on a new venture.
In 2018, A01 will launch a new free food truck initiative, ‘The Kingdom Crumb’, to feed those in need. Check out some of the tweets:
Just in case you missed the festivities and you’re interested, Eagles kicker Jake Elliott homered in the game’s first at bat and Stefen Wisniewski took home the crown in the home run derby.
Here’s some of what Wentz said about the event, its’ mission and its’ success:
"The goal is to provide something different, provide a community atmosphere, just love on people… It’ll hopefully change lives in this community. Hopefully (it will) get people plugged into their faith and get to know Jesus Christ through it as well. The event went great…I’ve grown to already love this place, the culture and everything it’s about."
This is a wonderful cause, and we at ITI wish Wentz luck with both A01 and this latest venture.
