Philadelphia Eagles will be a powerhouse on Madden 19
The Philadelphia Eagles will be the team to beat on EA Sports’ Madden 19.
For once, fans of the Philadelphia Eagles can say that EA Sports got it right with this year’s version of Madden. Well, at least for the most part they can. It’s that time of year again when everybody is craving the new Madden. Unfortunately, we have to wait until August for it. But when it does come out, we will have something other than preseason football to hold us over until the regular season.
Over the past few years, the Eagles weren’t the most playable team on Madden. It was almost rare to see them ranked any higher than the low 80’s. Just last season, the Eagles were listed as the 24th-best team with a disappointing overall of 78. Clearly, the guys over at EA Sports got it all wrong. But this time around, they did not make the mistake of viewing the Eagles as a bottom-tier team. As expected, the Super Bowl Champions are the best team in the game. And it isn’t even close.
Where do the Eagles rank?
Are you surprised? Obviously, EA Sports had no choice but to rank the Eagles and the New England Patriots as the top-two teams in the league. But seeing a significant difference between one and two’s overall ratings was quite surprising. Especially since the Eagles and Patriots were neck-and-neck throughout the entire Super Bowl back in February.
Being that the Eagles are Madden’s top-team this year, they naturally have the most players with an above-average rating of over 85, according to NFL Update. The top defensive ratings are Malcolm Jenkins (93 OVR), Fletcher Cox (92 OVR), Brandon Graham (92 OVR), Ronald Darby (86 OVR), and Michael Bennett (86 OVR.) On offense, the rating leaders are Jason Kelce (92 OVR), Lane Johnson (87 OVR), Jason Peters (87 OVR), Jay Ajayi (85 OVR), and Carson Wentz (85 OVR.)

The only real public complaint from the Eagles fan base was Wentz’s overall. I mean, is Wentz an 85 with a torn ACL or what? We would expect him to be somewhere around the 90 range considering that he had an MVP caliber season before his unfortunate injury. We’re sure when Wentz returns though, EA Sports will have no choice but to upgrade Wentz after he shows his improvement from year two. He isn’t even cleared to play yet, and his game is already evidently improving on the field.
