It didn’t take long for Malcolm Jenkins to get serious at a youth football camp in New Jersey on Friday.

The NFL offseason continues to drag on. As some players of the Philadelphia Eagles are relaxing before training camp, others are holding camps of their own. Eagles safety and defensive captain Malcolm Jenkins decided to take his leadership skills to a local high school field in his hometown Piscataway, New Jersey.

Every year, the nine-year veteran holds a minicamp for the younger generation of football players through his Malcolm Jenkins Foundation. This past week he held the seventh annual camp. Typically, these football camps with the pro’s have the NFL player’s acting as nothing more than coaches. But knowing how competitive Jenkins is on the football field, teaching verbally is not enough. So Jenkins makes sure he gets involved in giving the players a hands-on experience.

One high school lineman, in particular, gave Jenkins a handful of unexpected competition. As Jenkins lined up as a pass rusher in front of him, he gave it all he got and put Jenkins on the ground. Although the Pro Bowl safety argued that the play was not considered a pancake, that certain play made Jenkins turn it up a notch on the next few reps.

Did Jenkins get pancaked?

So what’s the verdict, Eagles fans? Did Super Bowl winning safety Malcolm Jenkins get pancaked by a high school lineman? In no way did he get put on his back, but he was definitely issued some stellar competition in the trenches. So shoutout to that young man for giving Jenkins a challenging battle, but it defeintiley wasn’t a pancake, in my opinion.

Had it not been for Jenkins wearing shoes on the turf, he probably would’ve stayed on his feet. As the small crowd around the scene hyped up the situation, Jenkins told everybody “If I put on my cleats, it’s gonna get real!” So pancake or not, it was clear that the situation made Jenkins want to turn the competition up a notch. For anyone planning to attend Jenkins’ camps in the future, you can expect some awesome hands-on competition like this with the Pro Bowl safety.
