Former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard saw his name in the headlines recently. It just wasn’t for a reason he’d like to see it.

Jacksonville is one of those rare cities where people typically don’t have to struggle to name the county it belongs to. See? Right when you read that, the name DUUUUVAAL just ran through your head. Yes, sometimes it’s thought of for good reasons, and sometimes its’ the opposite. Whichever one, we all can recollect some wild story we’ve heard about good ol’ Jacksonville. Recently, former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard gave us another.

You all remember Lito, don’t you? Perhaps our greatest memory came courtesy of a pick-six where he traveled goal line to goal line in a back-and-forth game that also served us another story. It was former Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens‘ return to Philly. What made that game even more satisfying was Owens was a member of the Dallas Cowboys at the time.

It’s almost a shame that we have to interrupt that memory and replace it with events that are a little less distant in history. According to a report by FirstCoastNews.com, Sheppard’s car was vandalized by Jabar Gaffney.

Get this. Gaffney is a former high school and college teammate of Sheppard’s. They’re also cousins.

What? Really?

Sheppard named Gaffney and an unnamed girlfriend as suspects after retrieving a surveillance video from the restaurant where he believed the incident had occurred (he left and his car stalled).

Here’s some of what was said in the police report:

"Gaffney retrieved some type of tool and a container from the suspect’s vehicle, walked over to the passenger’s side of the victim’s vehicle near the gas tank, and pried it open… Gaffney then poured an unknown substance from the container into the gas tank … The unknown female walked around the vehicle and stabbed all of the tires with a sharp object."

So far, there’s been no real explanation as to why this happened other than the fact that “(Sheppard) said the two have an ongoing feud that began in 2012”. This according to First Coast News, the writers of the story.

Truthfully, it sounds like a tad bit more than a feud, doesn’t it?
