Who needs the World Cup when Philadelphia Eagles fans can relive their first world championship?

The Philadelphia Eagles finally won the franchise’s first Super Bowl in early February. It’s been long overdue, especially for their fans. That victory’s been on the minds of ‘Birds’ fans since it happened, and nothing, not even the final game of the World Cup, has been able to change that.

This past weekend was supposed to be all about the World Cup, but don’t tell Eagles fans that. While the rest of the world was fixated on Croatia’s war with France, several Philly fans were focused on Super Bowl LII.

While Philly’s first Super Bowl victory has been over for several months, Eagles fans are still thinking of being the underdogs and about the three-game stretch that led their team to its’ first-ever Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.

On Sunday, Eagles fans showed the celebration is a long way from ending when they threw a block party and re-watched the game.

Super bowl LII outshines the World Cup.

To be fair, the World Cup was on the minds of Eagles fans on Sunday. The original goal of the block party was to watch the World Cup. Fans shut down South Street in Philadelphia and set up a giant television to watch Croatia take on France.

Then, after the match finished, the fans turned their attention to their favorite team. They watched that other brand of football, the one with the pads and helmets. It was as if the game was airing for the first time. Fans were just as excited as they were back in February.

Philly special still as special the second time around.

Remember when the Birds pulled off one of the craziest plays in Super Bowl victory? Philly fans will never forget it, and it feels like every time they see it, they’ll act just as crazy as they did the first time they saw it.

Check out this social media post from a die-hard Eagles fan, Sixers photographer Alex Subers:

It’s safe to assume Eagles fans will be celebrating for years to come. The 2017 season was, well, special.

If you’re among the number of fans who are getting tired of hearing Eagles fans talk about their first Lombardi Trophy, then sorry. The buzz won’t stop anytime soon. You might as well resign yourself to that fact.
