Flashback Friday: Philadelphia Eagles learn a huge lesson in Seattle
After a marvelous month in November, the Philadelphia Eagles got a reality check on the first weekend in December.
There was just a weird feeling surrounding the game when the Philadelphia Eagles headed to the Pacific-Northwest to face the Seattle Seahawks. ‘The Birds’ had seen their fair share of trouble with Pete Carroll’s guys.
Philly had lost five of the last six to the Seattle, and what was worse was the fact that the Seahawks were beating the Eagles easily. No matter what the records were or where they were playing, the Seahawks were dominating the Eagles and didn’t appear to be having any problems in doing so.
If they weren’t the inferior team that found a way to beat Philly at Lincoln Financial Field while the snow fell, Marshawn Lynch was, seemingly, running through the entire Eagles defense. If that wasn’t happening, Russell Wilson was scoring on read-option plays or long Zach Ertz touchdowns were being called back because the Eagles couldn’t line up properly.
It was ugly.
Philly runs into a buzz saw.
Some saw Philly’s trip to ‘Emerald City’ as the truest test of where this team was. How would Philly react to yet another prime time game? Would a desperate Seahawks team trying to make the playoffs hold serve at home? The Eagles had the longest winning streak in the NFL. Were they due a loss?
Philly ran into a buzz saw on Sunday Night Football. The result was the Eagles’ second loss of the season. Take a look at the highlights:

Philly had chances to win but struggled all night and ended up on the wrong side of a 24-10 score. They learned a lot about themselves and were galvanized. They wouldn’t lose a game they tried to win for the rest of the 2018 season.

This was one of those games that you might say was the springboard to the Eagles’ first Super Bowl victory in team history.
