Former Philadelphia Eagles outside linebacker Connor Barwin signs with the New York Giants.

The Philadelphia Eagles will see a familiar face twice a year this season. Word got out on Monday that former Eagles outside linebacker Connor Barwin plans to sign with NFC East rival, the New York Giants. For the first time since 2013, Barwin will compete in the NFC East once again after spending four quality seasons with the Eagles.

Barwin served the Eagles well from 2013 to 2016. During that time, he racked up a total of 211 tackles and 31.5 sacks. Although the Eagles chose not to bring Barwin back, there were no hard feelings as he went to the Los Angeles Rams. After all, Barwin was a consistent playmaker on the stat sheets. He exploded with career-high numbers back in 2014 with 14.5 sacks. Since then, he has not reciprocated those statistics, but he remains a solid competitor in the NFL.

Now, Barwin will make his way back to the East coast as he intends on seeing the Eagles twice a year. Obviously, there are no hard feelings between Barwin and the city of Philadelphia. It was quite evident that the nine-year veteran didn’t have much of a market in free agency. But he will start his new journey in New York this week.

Barwin confirms the rumors:

It may be tough to see Barwin rock the Giants’ blue colors, but Barwin makes it impossible to hate him. Sure, Eagles fans had turned on their former favorites in the past when they returned (DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy) but it is highly doubtful that anyone could possibly be upset with Barwin’s decision to continue to play football, even if he did choose to go to the Giants.

Considering that Barwin continues to help out the city of Philadelphia, he will always be good in our book. And just for laughs, let’s just remember the good ol’ times where Barwin goes into beast mode after sacking his new friend and quarterback, Eli Manning.
