It appears the Philadelphia Eagles have a new motto.

It’s been said by many players, coaches, and others throughout the history of the NFL that the only thing harder than winning a Super Bowl is doing it again the following season. Presently, the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves in this very position. Training camp is in full swing and the defending Super Bowl Champions are working.

During their roller coaster run, the Eagles captured the hearts of the nation by adopting this ‘underdog’ moniker after franchise quarterback Carson Wentz tore both his ACL and LCL in a week 13 match up against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Eagles would be the first number one seed in history that wasn’t favored in any of their playoff games. It was so inspiring that everyone forgot that we normally associate the Cleveland Browns with dog masks. Once Chris Long and Lane Johnson threw on a couple, the Eagles’ fan base made their way to the Internet and almost depleted the world’s supply of them.

As Philly enters training camp, they can no longer call themselves under dogs as the hunters have become the hunted. So, in that spirit of thinking, a new moniker’s being thrown around, “Embrace the Target“.

Undrafted rookie offensive lineman Ian Park was seen at the Eagles facility in a new T-shirt with those three words across his chest. It’s safe to assume shirts bearing those words will fly off the shelves if and when they are released for circulation.

Take a look:

Pretty sharp, isn’t it?.

Now, actions speak louder than words, so while the team may say they are embracing the target, actually going out and performing like they do will be a totally different story.

Every team that takes the field against ‘The Birds’ will play that game like it’s their Super Bowl, but with the way the team overcame adversity the previous season and with all the hungry and returning players coming back from injury, this team should be a fun one to watch as they embrace said target.

After all, hungry dogs run faster (that’s a nice one too). Time will tell if these hungry dogs embrace the target. We’ll all be tuning in to see if that’s exactly what happens.
