40,000 fans show up for a Philadelphia Eagles practice session, and Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman get contract extensions. It’s all here in ITI’s roundup.

If we had a cash register sound effect, we’d cue it up here. The Philadelphia Eagles‘ own Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman cashed in recently, and rightfully so. More on that in a second, but first, to quote Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Brian Dawkins, ‘Let’s talk about these Eagles fans’.

Whenever we discuss the best fans in the world, Eagles fans are somewhere in the conversation. On Sunday, August 5th, they proved that yet again as ‘The Birds’ held an open practice at Lincoln Financial Field.

Philly’s first open practice of training camp of the preseason also doubled as a Military Appreciation Night. 40,000 people were in attendance. Don’t believe us? Take a look at some of the highlights:

Jeffrey Lurie opens up the purse.

Training camp is one of those times of the year where we often talk about contract extensions. Normally, when we do so, we’re discussing the players that we cheer for. On Sunday, the Eagles’ brass made sure they took care of two of the biggest reasons for this team’s success, their head coach and executive vice president of football operations.

This past season, Doug Pederson led ‘The Birds’ to their first Super Bowl win in the franchise’s history, and Howie Roseman was named Sporting News’ NFL Executive of the Year for 2017 and the Executive of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America.

Here’s a quote from Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie:

"We are thrilled to solidify continuity in our organization’s leadership with the extensions of Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman, whose collaborative partnership helped deliver our city its first Super Bowl Championship. Doug and Howie are committed to the success of our franchise by ensuring that we remain competitive, both in the short and long term. That unified vision for the future of our team is what gives us the best chance to win moving forward."

What’s left to be said after that?
