Eagles Talk: What do we think about Alvin Kamara’s recent comments?
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara sounds quite jealous of the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl success.
It’s been quite some time now since the Philadelphia Eagles have defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Since that glorious night for the Eagles franchise, the rest of the NFL has shown some sour feelings towards the first-time Super Bowl winners. The funny thing about it all though is that a lot of those negative feelings didn’t even come from players or fans of the New England Patriots. They came from fans and players of teams that represent the NFC.
It all started during the week of the NFC Championship game when the Eagles were set to take on the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings swore up and down that they would waltz into South Philly without a problem and head back home to compete in the Super Bowl. Little did they know, the Eagles would easily take care of business by winning 38-7.
Okay, so the Vikings kind of have a reason to be sour. But now former third-round pick and New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara stirred the pot for 2018 as he has expressed his negative feelings towards both, the Vikings and the Eagles in a recent interview with Bleacher Report.
Kamara’s words:
"“We’d beat the sh*t out of [the Eagles] cause we was rolling,” Kamara says. “If we won [versus Minnesota], I knew nobody was gonna stop us cause we came all the way back.”The conversation gets Kamara excited for the upcoming season. He described 2017 as an “experiment” year for the Saints, and he believes everyone in the locker room knows what they are capable of accomplishing in 2018.“We know what the standard is,” Kamara says before pausing for a few seconds. “So, yeah, fu*k Minnesota.”"
Kamara didn’t hold back during his interview with Bleacher Report’s Master Tesfatsion. Clearly, the Minnesota Miracle didn’t sit right with the rookie running back as he watched the NFC Championship from his couch like the rest of us. While he did have a point that the Saints were rolling after coming back from a steep deficit in the first half, it wouldn’t have made that much of a difference for the Eagles during the following week.
Could the matchup make a difference?
All bias aside, the Eagles could’ve handled the Saints just like they dealt with the Vikings. Were the Eagles fortunate enough to play the team that made it there because they got lucky? For sure, but that doesn’t mean the Saints were coming into Lincoln Financial Field and taking control of anything.
Aside from a “B-Team” matchup during Week 17, no visiting team has beaten the Eagles in Philadelphia. And if you want to compare mutual opponents, the Eagles do in fact, have the better record. During 2017-18, the Eagles and Saints have both played the Chicago Bears, Washington Redskins, Los Angeles Rams, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, and the Atlanta Falcons.
Knowing that the Eagles finished off 2017 with only three losses, you can probably assume that their record looks excellent against this set of opponents. While combining the regular season and playoffs, the Eagles have a total of eight wins and zero losses against their mutual opponents. For the Saints, they finished with six wins, and five losses. Funny enough, two of those losses were against the Vikings.

So, for Kamara to puff his chest out and say that the Saints would’ve “beat the sh*t out of the Eagles” is just a flat-out bogus statement. Although the quote can be mighty frustrating for the Eagles to hear, we can’t help but credit Kamara for giving the defending champions some bulletin board material for next season. November 18th can’t come soon enough!
