Sidney Jones, CB

Former second-round pick Sidney Jones may be considered a veteran, but he should be treated like a rookie. That means that he should get plenty of preseason opportunities just like the rest of the young guys on board. We all assumed that a healthy Jones would be the most talented cornerback on the roster, but so far the second-year back hasn’t earned his stripes.

Since the start of camp, the Eagles have shocked everybody and threw Jones into the slot, rather than putting him on the outside. He has been running with the first-team defense for the most part, but at the end of the day, it’s just practice. Jones needs his game time reps, and he needs them badly.

We should see a good amount of work out of Jones this week as he has been itching to step foot on the field since the final week of the regular season back in December. The Eagles could limit the corner to avoid any injury, but they would only be hurting themselves by doing so. Jones was brought here to become the number one cornerback on the field, so now it is time for him to make up for lost time.
