The Philadelphia Eagles’ brass and coaching staff has at least four reasons to watch Clemson Tigers football, namely the four guys along the defensive line.

The Philadelphia Eagles vice president of player personnel, Joe Douglas, doesn’t need our help for too much of anything. It’s certain that he doesn’t need our help in scouting, but hey, let’s just throw a bone out there anyway, shall we?

There’s an old street saying that seems to have found its’ way into the mainstream, ‘game recognizes game’. You may have heard it before. Regular season football is just about back at both the collegiate and professional level, and Douglas and company will continue the task of keeping the Eagles competitive by scouting talent at the NCAA level.

There’s no better place to start looking than within the Clemson Tigers‘ roster. Game does, indeed, recognize game, and the owners of what may be the best defensive line in pro football may want to pay attention to what some are saying has the potential to be the best defensive line in the history of college football.

Sure, people have the tendency to exaggerate with this type of stuff, but trust us on this one. These guys are good.

These guys would have been highly-touted NFL prospects a season ago, but they’ve all returned for the 2018 NCAA season. About a year ago, they all had a chat with Trevor Matich of ESPN.

Take a look:

This made us think about ‘Big Red’.

Nowadays, it seems like forever since Andy Reid paced the Eagles’ sidelines, but whenever you think about the trenches, he sometimes crosses the mind.

When Reid was Philly’s head coach, he typically took an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman in the first round of the draft. Sometimes you got Brandon Graham. More often than not you got Danny Watkins, Trevor Laws and Jerome McDougle.

Okay, that’s not the point. The point is ‘Big Red’ understood how important good play in the trenches was to long-term success in the NFL. The hope is the Eagles will be playing in February again and picking later on in each round of the 2019 NFL Draft. If so, they may have little to no shot of landing any of these guys.

Still you would want to familiarize yourselves with the names: Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell will be playing on Sundays. Are they the best defensive line in college football’s history? That’s debatable, but game does indeed recognize game.

Eagles coaches will, no doubt, want to take a gander now that Graham may be a free agent in 2019 and Michael Bennett and Chris Long are both aging.
