As expected, the Philadelphia Eagles have removed Alshon Jeffery from the PUP list, but a Week 1 appearance, as expected, remains unlikely.

Well, the gang’s trickling in slowly. It’s too early to call everyone present and accounted for, but the Philadelphia Eagles got some much-needed, though unsurprising, news in the form of wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.

On Friday, he passed his physical, and as a result, the Eagles removed him from their physically unable to perform (PUP) list. That prevents them from having to place him on the team’s IR (injured reserve) which would keep him on the sideline until midseason.

Jeffery’s still expected to, at least, miss the 2018 opener versus the Atlanta Falcons. Stories like this one by Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter began circulating around the web and social media a few days ago.

Many fans are optimistic that Jeffery’s return may come sooner as Eagles head coach Doug Pederson addressed the Philly media following a win versus the New York Jets in Philly’s final preseason game and stated that his receiver’s status was ‘day-to-day’.

Here’s Pederson’s presser from Thursday night:

What’s next?

Word has it that doctors are on the other side of the early return conversation, and their belief is Jeffery should continue to rehab from the procedure he underwent back in February to repair a torn rotator cuff that he had played with throughout the entire 2018 campaign.

Hopefully, he’ll return sooner than later. He signed a four-year, $57 million contract extension in December in hopes that he’ll continue to gel with Carson Wentz and improve on the 57 receptions and nine touchdowns he racked up while amassing 789 yards in his first year in Eagles green.

He hasn’t been seen on the playing field since Super Bowl LII, but once he’s cleared medically, he can participate fully in team practices.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
