Philadelphia Eagles talk: Grading each unit of the 53-man roster

Now that the Philadelphia Eagles have their 53-man roster, expect a little extra discussion at the water cooler for a few days.

It’s been a long couple of days for the Philadelphia Eagles. The team’s brass and coaches cut close to 40 guys on their way to crafting a 53-man roster that any NFL GM, owner and head coach would be proud of.

Look around, and you see Pro Bowl selections, MVP candidates, some of the best players at their position, and, of course, a Super Bowl MVP at the backup quarterback position.

There weren’t many surprises, but there were a few. Still, all in all, ‘The Birds’ seemed to be in prime position for a run at a second straight appearance in football’s biggest game.

Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman met with the media on the first day of September. Here’s a peek at what happened when he did.

If this team’s chances at hoisting another Lombardi Trophy are to be taken seriously, they’ll need to stay as healthy as possible, manage injuries successfully when they come, and have a few of these ‘surprises’ step up to the plate.
