The Philadelphia Eagles have announced their team captains for the 2018 campaign.

The news came shortly after lunchtime on Tuesday, September 4th, just two days prior to their first game of the 2018 campaign. The Philadelphia Eagles have named their team captains.

There are five of them: Everyone take a look at this flick of Carson Wentz, Malcolm Jenkins, Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, and Kamu Grugier-Hill.

Give us a drum roll please:

Let’s break this down.

You’ve got two guys from the offense, the defense and a mainstay from the special teams unit. For Philly’s franchise quarterback, Mr. Wentz, this is his second time carrying the honor. One would think it won’t be his last.

The same can be said for safety Malcolm Jenkins. If you need any evidence of his football acumen, just check out any highlight reel or documentary of Super Bowl LII and how he led his defensive teammates in every step of the process.

Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce are new to this list, but, truthfully, slapping the letter C on their chests just confirms what we already knew. One can only imagine what a motivational or halftime pep talk from Kelce might sound like.

Heck, you can play his speech at Philly’s victory parade during a morning workout and, even though you may never throw any pads on, it still makes you feel like you’re supposed to win at something.

One thing’s certain though. Both of these guys are Eagles through and through. Any youngster looking for an example of how to be a professional in this league needn’t look any further than any one of these two.

That brings us to Grugier-Hill. Hard work seems to have paid off as ‘The Flying Hawaiian’ replaces last year’s captain and special teams ace, Chris Maragos. Grugier-Hill is a little different. He’ll spend a few more snaps in 2018 roaming the second level of the Eagles’ defense, possibly as a starter.

We also learned last season that we’ve got a pretty good kicker if anything should happen to Jake Elliott.

All in all, these are five excellent selections. These aren’t just great leaders on the field. They’re great leaders off of the field as well.
