Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles ended the Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl hopes in the NFC divisional round. In Week 1 of 2018’s season the result was pretty similar to last year’s tussle.

The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the 2018 season with a rematch against the Atlanta Falcons. The battle of the birds saw a similar outcome to last season, a defensive battle that resulted in a dramatic finish.

The Eagles took a late lead, and had to rely on their defense to close out the game. Just like last season, the Eagles forced a turnover in the red zone to help seal the victory, but this time around, the ball didn’t sail through Julio Jones’ hands. He made sure to catch the ball but was landed out of bounds as time expired.

Philly went on to win the game 18-12. It wasn’t pretty. There were some ups and downs. The first half was boring, but the second half had fans on the edge of their seats.

All that matters, is Philadelphia got the win. Here are five takeaways from the game.
