Philadelphia Eagles roundup: ‘Birds’ tweak their roster again
With Week 2 of the 2018 NFL season approaching, the Philadelphia Eagles have tweaked their roster again.
If we learned anything from last season, we learned the 17-week grind is a marathon, not a sprint. In order to win in an ultra-competitive NFL, you have to make sure you give yourself the best shot possible with the best players possible, and the Philadelphia Eagles, after a Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons, are continuing to fine tune an already phenomenal roster.
That’s continued in the early part of this week.
Let’s dig in.
You’re already familiar with the fact that Nigel Bradham will be back in the lineup when the Eagles head south on Sunday to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That alone is cause for some excitement, but depth is what made Philly champions in 2017. With that being said, they’ve done a lot recently to adjust the lower half of their roster.
That starts with the practice squad.
A few familiar faces return as others depart.
On Tuesday, Philly released cornerback De’Vante Bausby and brought back Tre Sullivan. They also said goodbye to Markus Wheaton and re-signed Kamar Aiken.
Here are the tweets from their official Twitter account:
The new guys appear to be settling in as well. Safety Deiondre’ Hall and wide receiver Braxton Miller (yes, THAT Braxton Miller) got tracked down in the Eagles’ locker room by some of the Philly media.
Here’s some of what transpired when that happened, first with Hall:

As mentioned, next up on the Eagles’ schedule is Tampa. They shredded the New Orleans Saints defense in Week 1 (and got shredded themselves) en route to a 48-40 victory. Jameis Winston‘s replacement, Ryan Fitzpatrick, lit up the Saints on 21 completions for 417 yards and four touchdowns.
That has some worried, but we have to remember this is Ryan Fitzpatrick. We’ve seen this before, and great games in his career have often been followed up by mediocre ones. Philly should be fine on Sunday, but then again, that’s why they play the games now, isn’t it? We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
