Jalen Mills, CB

Let’s stay on topic here for a second. While Ronald Darby had a big game last week, his partner-in-crime on the other side, Jalen Mills didn’t exactly show out. We credited Darby for playing well against Julio Jones for the most part, but keep in mind that the receivers stat line was quite impressive. Ten catches for 169-yards makes saying Julio got shut down by the Eagles defense a laughable statement.

That’s because not everybody played well last week. Mills has had his moments during the previous two seasons. And just like Darby, he comes off as a bit inconsistent at times. It’s apparent that Mills’ energy and vocal leadership is vital to the defense, but sometimes his game kind of questionable and makes you wonder if he can really become elite or not.

As we said before, the Eagles are getting a challenge this week. They will face a talented group of receivers that features DeSean Jackson, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and so on. So, the secondary can’t precisely focus on one big name this week. That means Mills will have to post a big game and avoid becoming a weak spot in the secondary. With the way the Eagles offense has looked, the defense may have to carry the team to victory once again. There is no room for mistakes.
