Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Wentz discusses his return to in-game action
On Wednesday, September 19th, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz addressed the Philly media for the first time in a while. A bevy of topics were discussed.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Carson Wentz at a Philadelphia Eagles press conference. When he addressed the Philly media on Wednesday for almost 13 minutes in preparation for the Eagles’ game against the Indianapolis Colts, he answered a bevy of questions on how he felt about working his way back into shape.
How has he maintained a level of patience? How did he feel when he was told he wasn’t going to play in the season opener? How does he feel about the fact that his return also doubles as the return of one of his good friends, Jordan Matthews? The topics were widespread, and all of them allowed Wentz to give the listener an inside look at how Philly’s QB1 has been dealing with even more growing pains in the NFL.
Here’s one of the interesting ones. It just happened to be the first one asked during the conversation. How does someone who hasn’t seen in-game action since December of 2017 temper his excitement when he gets on the field?
Here’s what Wentz had to say:
"I mean I think it’s the same way I temper excitement going back to my first start in college, my junior year, my first start in the league against Cleveland a couple of years ago. I think it’s the same kind of approach. Obviously, I’m going to have a lot of excitement (and) everything, but once we get (started) playing, it’ll just be football again."

Let’s tell the story one final time.
No one will ever forget seeing Carson Wentz dive into the end zone against the Los Angeles Rams. That moment set off one of the most dramatic runs in NFL history.
That moment led to the amazing second chapter of a Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, one Nick Foles. That moment led to Foles, of all people, to being the quarterback that led Philly to their first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
Once upon a time, we all believed that the quarterback who would do that would be Carson Wentz.
Much is expected as the ‘Wentz Wagon’ cranks up again. Sunday will be the first test as QB1 plants the leg that once housed a torn ACL and LCL, Expect a great ovation when ‘Number 11’ trots out onto the field. Expect there to be even better days ahead in Philly.
