So, what if we told you, with the Philadelphia Eagles staring at Tennessee in Week 3, a Titans receiver asked for his release and his name’s being mentioned in conjunction with ‘The Birds’?

After Monday Night Football concludes on October 1st, one month of the NFL season will be in the books. It’s been a long one, but here we are with Week 4 on the horizon and we’re still talking about finding a suitable mix of receivers for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz to throw the ball to.

It wasn’t supposed to be like that, but no one was expecting Mike Wallace to break his fibula or for Mack Hollins to end up on Philly’s IR (injured reserve).

Then, there was that surprise that was Kamar Aiken. He seemingly came out of nowhere. Yep, the first month of the 2018 NFL season has all but evaporated, and it’s been an emotional roller coaster for Eagles fans.

Alshon Jeffery‘s finally been cleared for contact, but that doesn’t mean he’ll play in Week 4. We expect him to, but that isn’t a certainty. Philly has five receivers on the roster, but try this one on for size. Rumor has it there may be some interest in a Tennessee Titans receiver that’s about to hit the free agent market.

Rishard Matthews, who had slipped on the Titans depth chart, has, apparently, asked for his release. This became news thanks to a recent report by A to Z Sports and this post from Matthews’ personal Instagram account:

According to that same story, Matthews also sent this text message to A to Z Sports Nashville:

"Everything is good! Just wasn’t happy with what was going on barely getting any playing time. It was time to move on."

As you know, Philly’s been juggling their roster for quite some time, and the 118 receptions, 1,740 yards and 13 touchdowns Rishard Matthews put up over the course of the 2016 and 2017 seasons might be enough to get the Eagles’ attention.

Philly’s made no move that demonstrates they’re interested at this point, but stories like this one on 24-7 Sports are surfacing that has some wondering if they might make a move. We’ll have to be patient over the next few days to see if this story grows any legs.
