If you do a little digging on Philadelphia Eagles safety Deiondre’ Hall, you come up with quite a few interesting facts.

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded a seventh-round draft choice to the Chicago Bears in exchange for Deiondre Hall‘s services, there wasn’t a marching band or any fireworks to welcome him upon his arrival. All we knew was Philly needed some depth at corner, and Hall was supposed to provide some.

Here we are, just three weeks into the 2018 NFL season, and the question is was that the right move or not?

After entering the NFL in 2016, Hall’s ride has resembled more of a roller coaster than a stretch limo. He’s spent time on the Bears’ injured reserve, and he was suspended for the first game of the NFL season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Still, knowing that, Philly traded for him any way. Now, with a major injury in the back end of Philly’s defense (Rodney McLeod) some may wonder if we’ll see more of Hall. Philly has moved Malcolm Jenkins around before and thrown another safety out there.

But wait. Hall was originally a cornerback right? He is listed as a safety on the team’s website.

Here are three things we dug up on this guy.

1. He was actually drafted higher than another former Chicago Bear, Eagles safety Corey Graham.

When Graham was re-signed by the Eagles, he got the love that Hall didn’t. That’s for good reason. We all know who Graham is, but what some may not know is Hall was actually drafted higher.

Graham went in the fifth round, 168th overall, to the Bears in 2007. Hall was taken by Chicago in 2016’s draft in the fourth round. He was the 127th player taken.

2. He’s actually pretty nice as a punt returner.

As a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa in 2013, Hall recorded 202 yards on ten punt returns. He added a 21-yard kickoff return and a 19-yard punt return in 2014 and 90 yards on four kickoff returns as a senior in 2015.

3. Don’t let his career stats fool you. He’s very versatile and may be a nice option if the Eagles need an extra safety or want to move some guys around.

We did some talking over here at ITI. Are we the only ones who that think this guy can be moved around a little? You don’t rack up 242 tackles and 16 tackles for loss unless you’re a bit of a ‘thumper’. You also don’t register three sacks, 15 break ups in the passing game or force three fumbles unless you’re pretty versatile.

Hall played cornerback, receiver and linebacker in college. He can’t play safety too? It’s just a thought and a nice option seeing as how Philly is asking the one-time corner to play behind his teammates and because they’ll have to go the rest of the way without Rodney McLeod.
