Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Things you may not know about Corey Graham
We may look back at the Philadelphia Eagles re-signing Corey Graham in the offseason as one of the smartest moves they made in 2018. Just look at his track record.
Okay, here’s what we know. Rodney McLeod won’t be any help to the Philadelphia Eagles‘ on-field cause in 2018. Currently, that leaves Deiondre’ Hall, Malcolm Jenkins and Corey Graham as the only safeties on Philly’s roster.
Unless they make some sort of move in free agency or plan on moving one of those cornerbacks a little further off of the line of scrimmage, this is, pretty much, what we have.
It goes without saying that Graham will have to step up. Those of you who are fearing the worst shouldn’t. Graham’s been here before, and delivered in some very important games. Just in case you need a reminder, we’ve got you covered.
Here are three things about Graham that you may have forgotten (or may not know).
1. He made the Pro Bowl and was voted onto the Pro Football Writers of America’s All-NFC team in 2011.
In 2011, Graham’s presence was felt everywhere for the Chicago Bears as he racked up 16 tackles, forced a fumble, and caught three interceptions en route to some pretty cool postseason awards.
This guy’s always had the ability to be effective in this game.
2. He’s nearing 700 tackles and 20 interceptions in what’s been a stellar NFL career.
Count them. Graham’s racked up over 650 tackles, three sacks, 17 interceptions and he’s reached the end zone twice in what’s been a 12-year NFL career. He’s lined up alongside Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Charles Tillman, and Brian Urlacher.
Now, that’s a career that most NFL stars would kill for.
3. You don’t remember what he did to Peyton Manning?
We always talk about what former Baltimore Ravens who joined the Eagles did for that franchise, but we sometimes forget what Graham did in his time there. The most notable game was a game that occurred in the Divisional Round of the 2012 AFC Playoffs.
In that one, Graham picked off Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning twice, returning one for a touchdown that put the Ravens up by a score of 14-7 in the first quarter.
In overtime, he got the best of Manning again, picking off another interception that led to a game-winning field goal.
Sure, most of this stuff was several years ago, but you have to believe that much of what made him as successful as he has been to this point is still in there, don’t you?
We, at ITI, will be the first to go on record and say expect some pretty big things in 2018
