In case you haven’t heard by now, the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in Pittsburgh Steelers star running back, Le’Veon Bell.

The Le’Veon Bell saga is far from over for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 26-year-old superstar hasn’t been able to agree to terms on a new contract extension for the past couple of seasons now. It’s evident that Bell’s issues come from a guaranteed money standpoint, but the Steelers have done all they are willing to do for the running back.

So as we all know, Bell has been a hold out for the entire offseason up until now. And while the Steelers have been shopping him around for an early-round pick and a player, nobody has seemed to take the bait from Pittsburgh. Bell has stated that he plans to return to the field sooner than later, but the Steelers will not confirm that news just yet.

It’s clear that the Steelers are ready to move on. The situation grew ugly over time, and they seem pretty confident in their second-year running back, James Conner. But regardless of whether Bell gets traded away or not, he still becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

Rumor has it that the Philadelphia Eagles are one of a few teams that have shown some interest in Bell. NFL Insider’s have said it, and even Bell believes it himself. But let’s just stop and think. Are the Eagles really interested enough to make a move?

The Rumor:

Jason La Canfora isn’t the only one saying that the Eagles have given it serious thought. This is legitimately a thing. But let’s put this into perspective for a moment. The second that the Steelers made Bell available to the rest of the league, probably more than half of the front offices made a general call just to hear the Steelers out. And if those teams who don’t have a top-five back in the league didn’t, then they don’t have a good GM.

Knowing Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, he probably made multiple calls. Seeing as though the Eagles could potentially lose three guys from the backfield to free agency after this season, running back will be a position of need. So yes, Bell to Philly makes sense. But how could they really afford a Le’Veon Bell and Carson Wentz contract without cutting out other core players?

Eagles’ next six games will decide their season. dark. Next

The Eagles money situation is already bad. They are towards the bottom of the barrel when it comes to cap space, and it only gets worse after this year. So yes, Le’Veon Bell would be a fantastic addition to the Eagles.

Howie Roseman probably did make several calls as he should. But let’s not get too excited here. This is one-hundred percent a pipe dream, whether you want to believe it or not. All credit to Howie and company for trying all they can to make something happen, but the man is just doing his job by searching to get better. It doesn’t mean that he is going to win all the time, though.
