Following the fourth week of the NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles slid on quite a few power rankings lists.

Week 4 in the NFL came and went in a flash, and when it was over, the Philadelphia Eagles were a .500 team. Sure Carson Wentz was one week older and wiser in the Eagles offense. Yes, Alshon Jeffery was back and shined in his debut. Yes, Jay Ajayi looked to be fine in spite of the fact he had fractured a bone in his back.

Still, none of that was enough to prevent Philly to going down in overtime to an underdog Tennessee Titans team.

You can, kind of, guess what happened next right? Some call it overreaction Monday. Fans were feeling the pain of a loss that shouldn’t have happened. Analysts and writers from all over the league put their power rankings lists together (both real and imaginary), and Philly took a tumble down the rankings.

Let’s look at how ‘The Birds’ did on a few of them.

They came in eighth on Colin Cowherd’s most recent Herd Hierarchy. Take a look:

That brings us to Pete Prisco of CBS Sports. He dropped Philly all the way down to 13th on his list. Here was the explanation:

"They just haven’t looked like the team that made the Super Bowl run last year. The offensive line needs to play better."

Last but not least, there’s the NFL Network. One of their more well known analysts, Elliot Harrison, who hosts of the NFL Power Rankings Show and writes at NFL.com, released his list this past Tuesday. He, like everyone else, dropped the Eagles as well. They crack his list at number 12. That’s a 12-spot drop from last week.

Here’s his explanation:

"The Eagles plummet in the Power Rankings following the loss to the Titans. If Philadelphia is to repeat (or even have an opportunity to try), DC Jim Schwartz must get better play — worlds better — from his corners. Alternatively, he must protect them more with numbers on the back end. Philly’s CBs were beaten repeatedly by a Titans air “attack” that, Sunday’s explosion aside, barely eked past the century mark the last few weeks. The Eagles’ DBs made up for it by not tackling. IfMalcolm Jenkins hadn’t been playing out of his mind lately, the results could have been even worse. I have no idea what Corey Graham was doing on the fourth-and-forever that extended theTitans’ final drive."

Just in case you’re needing a clip of some of what was said, take a look at this one:

You know what? It’s becoming more and more apparent that these power rankings lists are becoming more and more like mock drafts.

Sure, they’re fun. Yes, they’re interesting, but most of them hold very little value. Next up on the Eagles’ schedule is a date with the Minnesota Vikings.

Who knows? Maybe the Vikings fans do another ‘Skol’ chant on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Maybe ‘The Birds’ lay another 31-point beat down on the Vikes. Maybe then, the Eagles will catapult themselves back into the top five teams in the league.

That is how these things go right?
