Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Todd Herremans will make one more trip to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. In wake of his retirement, he’ll also serve as an honorary captain during the coin toss.

Well, here’s an honor that’s well deserved. On Sunday, former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Todd Herremans will serve as an honorary captain when ‘The Birds’ meet the Minnesota Vikings for their Week 5 game on Sunday.

The news came after the man who started 124 games in 127 appearances in green, black, white and silver made the announcement that he’d be retiring.

Here’s the tweet:

“I don’t think my body would let me play anymore” said Herremans when he spoke to various members of the Philly media including Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Let’s take a look back.

Herremans was drafted in the fourth round of 2005’s NFL Draft, 126th overall. He wan’t invited to the NFL Combine that season and had to work out for 24 teams to get noticed after 40 starts at Saginaw Valley State University.

Philly definitely saw something they liked, and that forced them to give the Green Bay Packers three later round picks for the right to move up in the fourth round to draft him.

He was expected to go in the fifth or sixth round by many draft experts.

You could say that things worked out well after a career that lasted from 2005 until 2014. He even wound up on the receiving end of two touchdown passes. That ranks him as first among Eagles offensive linemen. Heck, that actually ties him with Dorial Green-Beckham if we’re being honest.

Next. Are any offensive changes coming on Sunday?. dark

He was released by the Philly on February 26th of 2015. The Indianapolis Colts signed him on March 8th of 2015. He’d start two games there, but make no mistake. Herremans is, was, and always will be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Expect quite the roar when his name is announced on Sunday.
