Any changes to the Philadelphia Eagles offense, if they come, are going to be done out of necessity. Don’t expect any overreactions from the coaching staff.

Sheesh. At some point this Philadelphia Eagles team has to get healthy. Just keeping up with who’s been injured has been a job in and of itself. On Wednesday, when Philly took the practice field, ‘The Bodyguard’, Jason Peters, was limited with that same quadriceps issue.

Derek Barnett was dealing with a shoulder issue, and Fletcher Cox had the ankle problem. Neither participated, and that’s just what was going on with the defense. On offense, Corey Clement, Alshon Jeffery, and Darren Sproles were all missing.

Then, on Thursday, Cox, Peters and Jeffery were full participants, but Barnett, Sproles, and Clement were all still spectators. On Sunday, the Eagles will play their fifth game of the season, and at no point have they had their full compliment of backfield weapons.

On Friday, during his conversation with the Philly media, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was asked early about Clement and Sproles, and we got the usual ‘we’ll see’.

Take a look at this tweet from Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro:

Are changes coming along the offensive front?

In addition to everything that’s been going on with the offensive line, questions have come up about whether or not we may see Isaac Seumalo take over at guard somewhere in the near future.

Typically when asked about changes, we’ve heard a lot in the area of whether or not Jalen Mills may play his way out of a starting job. Neither Pederson or defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz have made any comment to corroborate that. Both state Mills is fine and is best suited to remain a starter.

When it comes to the offensive line however, there doesn’t seem to be the same certainty. Coach Pederson decided to go the ‘we’re constantly evaluating everyone’ route. We know Jason Kelce‘s been getting some rest, and the line seems old and tired at times. With that being said, could we see Seumalo sooner than later?

So, while the status of Sproles and Clement hang in the balance, we do know we’ll see some of Wendell Smallwood. He’s been impressing everybody.

We’ve made it to Week 5. Let’s see if Philly can play better and wipe the memories of the disappointment we all felt in Week 4 away.
