Jalen Mills has acknowledged his slow start to the season

Philadelphia Eagles fans aren’t the only ones who see that Jalen Mills is struggling.

This season hasn’t exactly been ideal for Philadelphia Eagles third-year cornerback, Jalen Mills. While the defensive secondary as a whole has been struggling, Mills has been the focal point of the team’s struggles. Mills has had his ups and downs this season, and consistency has been a big issue. But that’s just half the battle with Mills, as he hasn’t looked great all across the board.

After last weeks matchup against the New York Giants, Mills has started trending upwards. But considering the strength of the opponent, nobody is ready to say that Mills is back quite yet. Not his coaches, not the fans, and not even himself.

Although Mills’ progress thus far has been heavily debated throughout the entire Eagles fan base, the third-year cornerback had to take some time to look in the mirror. And even though he is one of the most confident players on the team, Mills has still acknowledged that he is not playing his best stretch of football.

How would Mills grade out his season?

NJ Advanced Media’s Zack Rosenblatt caught up with the former seventh-round pick on Monday to discuss his previous game. While Mills led the Eagles defense in tackles and had multiple pass deflections, he is not satisfied with his progress in 2018 as he graded himself as a C-minus.

The Eagles are going to stick with Mills on the outside regardless. There has been some speculation that he could be moved to safety, or in the slot but Jim Schwartz shot down that notion during his press conference on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles are going to keep Mills and Ronald Darby outside so they can avoid any further changes on the fly. With Mills acknowledging his struggles, we should expect to see him clean up some of the mistakes moving forward. As Jim Schwartz continues to back Mills, he needs to remain consistent and avoid mistakes in the future.
