Philadelphia Eagles: Surprise updates on Jason Peters, Mack Hollins
With the clock ticking towards a meeting between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers, let’s get you caught up on what’s being said in relation to Jason Peters and Mack Hollins.
To say the injury bug has bitten the Philadelphia Eagles a time or two in 2018 would be an understatement. Starting left tackle Jason Peters, who actually finished 2017 on the team’s injured reserve, and Mack Hollins, one of the wide receivers Philly hoped to get more out of in 2018, have been the topic of conversation for being unable to stay healthy.
Hollins hasn’t appeared in a regular season game after being placed on the team’s IR on September 6th for a groin injury. Peters has had issues with both his hamstring and, now, a biceps injury that was supposed to keep him out for a week or two (or more).
The Philly media caught up with the Eagles’ offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, on Monday. Here’s some of the result:

Let’s dig in.
Let’s rewind the tape a little, and zero in on one particular aspect of the conversation. “I don’t think he’s going to miss any time, personally.” According to Stoutland, Peters could be in the lineup by Sunday, but after an injury that occurred less than a week ago had some of us initially believing that Peters was done for the season, it may be too early to draw that type of conclusion.
Now, let’s move on to Hollins.
Just this week, receivers coach Gunter Brewer echoed some of offensive coordinator Mike Groh’s theory that Mike Wallace may make a late-season return, but Brewer also added another piece to a very confusing puzzle.
Apparently, Hollins is ahead of the curve in his recovery as well and may be on schedule to return to the playing field prior to the close of the regular season.
Here’s one very important note. The Eagles are only allowed to bring two players back to the lineup from the IR. Might that be both Wallace and Hollins? That would be good news for the Eagles offense, but we’re a long way from drawing any real conclusions on either of those fronts.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
