The Philadelphia Eagles have traded for Detroit Lions wide receiver, Golden Tate.

No more waiting, Philadelphia Eagles fans. Howie Roseman has finally made a deal ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline that takes place at 4 pm on Tuesday. It took a while, but the deal is done. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Eagles will be sending a third-round pick to the Detroit Lions in return for the veteran wide receiver, Golden Tate.

With the Eagles immediate needs at certain positions, we weren’t exactly sure what or who they will acquire. On offense, their immediate needs are running back or wide receiver. Ultimately, the wide receiver position had a bigger market this season, and that’s where Roseman saw fit for the Eagles.

The nine-year veteran joins the Eagles while already having a stellar season. He’s got 44 receptions for 517 yards and three touchdowns. As Tate joins the Eagles, he already leads the team in receiving yards from wideouts from his production in Detroit. In other words, this is a big-time addition for the struggling offense.

The Deal:

There are no further details on the trade. For those who don’t know, Tate is finishing up his contract after the 2018 season. Therefore, the Eagles are going to have some thinking to do about whether they want to extend the 30-year-old receiver or not before his contract expires at the end of the year.

As Eagles fans seem quite thrilled that their team got an established veteran who is already having a solid season, they aren’t the only ones who are excited. A few players took to Twitter immediately after they heard the news that they would be getting a new teammate. Check out what some of Tate’s new teammates had to say on their social media accounts on Tuesday afternoon after they heard the initial news reports.
