Everybody has been wondering; When will Timmy Jernigan return to the Philadelphia Eagles?

Injuries have been the Philadelphia Eagles biggest problem this year. We don’t like to use it as an excuse for the 4-4 record, but let’s be real. The Eagles would not be struggling this much if they weren’t understaffed in some of their stronger areas. Timmy Jernigan, Darren Sproles, Mike Wallace, Rodney McLeod, the list goes on and on.

Before the 2018 season kicked off, the Eagles had the best defensive line in the league on paper. The additions of Michael Bennett, Haloti Ngata, and Josh Sweat looked very promising. That confident feeling went away quickly though when Timmy Jernigan was thrown on the Injured Reserve. Then, Haloti Ngata was dealing with problems of his own. Let’s also not forget that Darek Barnett is now out for the year.

It’s been rough, to say the least. But there is one thing we can be positive about. Timmy Jernigan could be returning soon, as the bye weeks approaches and the Eagles make some moves. We all know how thin the defensive tackle position has been. Aside from Fletcher Cox, and Ngata, there has been a carousel of guys coming in for depth purposes.

The Eagles need the extra manpower there, so a recent move to clear up space for their newly acquired wide receiver might’ve indicated that Jernigan could be back very soon.

Another defensive tackle out?

Bruce Hector’s latest tenure with the Eagles was short lived. The team had to get rid of him in order to clear up space for Golden Tate. Seeing as though the Eagles only have three defensive tackles on the active roster with the release of Hector, that just might mean that Jernigan is going to be back soon, as they don’t need the extra depth right now.

Also, to back up that theory, WIP Eagles sideline reporter Howard Eskin claims that Jernigan could be back at the Nova Care Complex practicing for the Birds as early as next week. Obviously, we will take that with a grain of salt, but the latest roster move tells us all we need to know about Jernigan’s status.
